Doughnut Love

National Donut Day is June 2nd, just around the corner. Here are a few ways to celebrate. To begin with, create a statement piece décor with a word spelled out by donuts. We love the love theme here, with center piped variety of donuts. Go with a different style for each letter to make it pop.

Of course a party celebrating donuts needs to serve donuts. We love this simple yet delicious ice cream donut sandwich. Pre-scoop ice cream onto a platter and place in the freezer. Slice donuts in half, bun style. When ready add the pre-scooped ice cream to the donut and serve. Go for colorful flavors to make a bigger impact.

Coffee and Cream

Coffee is the go to drink when serving donuts. We found a beautiful coffee cocktail called the petit café.

1/2 cup heavy cream
1 1/2 ounces Galliano Ristretto or other coffee liqueur
1 1/2 ounces Green Chartreuse
Garnish: Pinch brown sugar (optional)

Whip cream in a bowl with a whisk until it reaches a thick consistency, but is still fluid enough to pour, about 45 seconds.

Add coffee liqueur and Chartreuse to a mixing glass and fill with ice. Stir until well chilled, about 20 seconds. Strain into a small wine glass or snifter.

Top drink with whipped cream by floating it over the back of a bar spoon. Garnish with a pinch of brown sugar on top if desired.

Spin the Wheel

Since we’re going all out for donuts this week, why not add in more fun with a simple spin to win fair style booth at your event. In this one, bold words are emblazoned with marquee style lights and guest spin a low tech wheel to decide what they get to eat.
