While apples and pumpkins take center stage this time of year, the other fall fruit deserves some attention.
Pears, with their bright to mossy green hues, help transition from summer to fall’s more muted colors. This setting pairs the pears with other mossy greens along with crisp white hydrangeas.

Pearly Sweet

Pears go well as a sweet or savory dish. Serve this Danish open faced sandwich to conclude a meal to give it just a sweet finish.

1 slice rugbrød (dense Danish sourdough rye bread), about 1/3-inch thick
1/2 teaspoon unsalted butter, softened slightly
1/4 pear, cut thinly lengthwise
2 tablespoons Danish blue cheese, crumbled
2 teaspoons toasted hazelnuts, chopped

If not already trimmed, cut rye bread to a 3- by 5-inch rectangle.

Spread butter evenly all over top side of bread.

Arrange pear slices on bread so that they overlap slightly. Top with crumbled blue cheese and finish with toasted hazelnuts. Serve right away.

Bourbon Pear Mixer

Bourbon is the perfect drink for fall, with its smoky overtones. This delicious mix combines both bourbon and pears.

For the Roasted Pear Puree:
2 bartlett pears, cored and sliced into eighths
3 1/2 tablespoons fresh juice, from two lemons
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves

For the Bourbon Pear Mixer:
1 cup roasted pear puree
2 cups Four Roses Yellow Label Bourbon
1/2 cup maple syrup
For each cocktail:
1/4 cup Bourbon Pear Mixer
3 tablespoons chilled sparkling wine (from 1 bottle)
Additional ground cloves for garnish

For the Roasted Pear Puree: Preheat oven to 375°F. Arrange the pear slices on a parchment-lined baking sheet and roast until the underside of each slice begins to caramelize, about 20 minutes. Let cool to room temperature. Add to blender with lemon juice and ground clove and purée until very smooth, or purée in a bowl with an immersion blender.

For the Bourbon Pear Mixer: In a pitcher or quart jar, stir together pear puree, bourbon, and maple syrup. Refrigerate until ready to use, up to 4 hours. Stir before serving.

For each cocktail: Fill each glass with ice, add the bourbon pear mixer and top with sparkling wine. Stir once and sprinkle with ground clove to serve.

Concierge EventBot is the perfect solution for those experiencing app fatigue. As smartphone users become less likely to download apps on their phones, the Concierge EventBot works within text or Facebook Messenger. Attendees simply send a text message to a designated number. Intuitive technology on the back end answers questions, sends links. The EventBot can also do push notifications. Instead of designing a new event app, pair your next event with an Artificial Intelligent team member.
